RLI develops a range of print, web and multimedia-based resources for adult ESL (English Second Language) and EFL (English First Language) jobseekers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Virtual Independent Learning Centre (VILC)

Interactive English language learning tasks via the Internet.

The Virtual Independent Learning Centre (VILC) www.virtualilc.com provides fresh online English language and literacy tasks that can be used anywhere, anytime. These easy-to-use multimedia tasks are based on current events so they are relevant and interesting for students. VILC is designed by teachers for teachers and students, and is cost effective. New activities are added constantly to keep VILC up to date and engaging for learners. Several of the resources are available as downloads to mobile devices.

VILC is used by AMEP, ELICOS, Literacy and ESL learners around Australia and the world.

RLI undertakes applied research for external agencies and internal business units.

E-Learning Support and Training

Customised courses in using ICT for communication, delivery and research purposes.

Through our training, we aim to empower individuals and encourage learning communities. The e-learning team:

  • supports e-learning design and implementation
  • provides customised courses to meet the needs of management, teaching, training or support staff
  • delivers in a variety of modes – in person, online and a blend of both
  • develops high-quality print and online support materials
  • works with staff development managers to plan training that responds to local needs and issues.
