History

Blue collar men working on engine

More than 50 years of multicultural experience

More than half a million students have attended AMES programs and services since 1951.

Prior to becoming an autonomous Adult Education Institution, incorporated under the Adult Community and Further Education Act, AMES was a Service Agency of the Victorian Government's Department of Education, Employment and Training.

Since the late 1990s, the organisation has grown rapidly due to the success of its programs. AMES is not only the largest provider of English language services in Victoria; it has expanded to become a major supplier of specialist employment and training services in Melbourne and Sydney.
