Sorghum Sisters

sorghum.jpgThe Sorghum Sisters is a catering enterprise operating from Carlton Primary School. The Sorghum Sisters offer traditional cuisine from the countries in the Horn of Africa as well as providing a healthy lunch program to the school community.

The Sorghum Sisters produce traditional Injera bread and other African cuisine including savouries and sweets, such as tuna fatira, sambosas, African donuts and date and cardamom biscuits. They also train other women from their community in food handling and preparation, to help provide them with greater work opportunities.

Cultural Cooks

cultural-cooks_1.jpgCultural Cooks uniquely showcases cultural diversity through food choice in its catering service. It aims to bring a wonderful array of tastes, with influences from Africa, Asian South Pacific, India and the Middle East. The enterprise is also known for its healthy eating drive, delivering healthy lunches to local schools and running interactive healthy eating sessions for both children and adults.

Seven Stars

sevenstars.jpgSeven Stars is a 'low food-mile' based enterprise that develops hospitality skills and builds social networks for migrants and refugees. Located at CERES Environment Park, the enterprise uses fresh produce grown at the local organic and biodynamic suppliers. Its menu reflects the knowledge and history of the women participating in the enterprise.

Canteen +
