Volunteer Mentors

Mentors help skilled and professional migrants newly arrived in Australia to pursue their career. Volunteers from a range of professions and industries are required as the program endeavours to match professions with their Australian equivalent. Mentors would be currently employed with several years experience in Australia, or very recently retired.

The commitment is to make contact with the mentee once a week. Matches vary in length but a general commitment of 6 months is expected.

Training Program

The training program is a one-hour induction session covering AMES as an organisation, the aims and expectations of the role, and general cross-cultural awareness, particularly relating to job search and workplace issues.

How to Apply

  1. Contact the coordinator (details below) to discuss your skills and the program requirements.
  2. The application and police check forms will be emailed to you to complete and bring to induction.
  3. Attend the induction session. Please bring 100 points of ID for police check processing.
