The AMEP General English Courses are based on the Certificate in Spoken and Written English (CSWE). This course will help students improve their English language skills through topics relating to their study and work goals such as Education and Employment in Australia.

What will I learn?

This course will enable you to learn to:

  • Use spoken English in a range of social, academic or vocational contexts such as delivering formal presentations or participating in job interviews
  • Read and write a range of academic and/or workplace texts such as complex instructions, reports and resumes or covering letters

Based on interviews where your language level will be assessed and a counsellor will discuss your learning goals.

Course duration

  • Available full-time or part-time.
  • Daytime, evening and weekend classes available.
  • You can also learn English with the help of a Volunteer Tutor.
  • This course is also offered through our online distance learning service.

Course dates

Term start dates for 2016 are as follows:

  • Term 1 – Monday 11th January
  • Term 2 – Monday 4th April
  • Term 3 – Tuesday 12th July
  • Term 4 – Monday 3rd October

The AMEP is based on an accredited curriculum delivering 10364NAT Certificate III in Spoken and Written English. AMES is a Registered Training Organisation TOID 0590.
This course is part of the AMEP and is free to eligible AMEP students.
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.
