This course is for students starting to learn English and who may have had little or no prior schooling.

Students will develop their English language skills through topics relating to their everyday life in Australia such as Education, Health and Money

What will I learn?

This course will enable you to learn to:

  • Read and write the alphabet and numbers
  • Be able to provide basic personal information using spoken language
  • Have a short conversation, read common signs
  • Fill in simple forms

Training for the Workplace courses


Based on interviews where your language level will be assessed and a counsellor will discuss your learning goals.

Course duration

  • Available full-time or part-time.
  • Daytime, evening and weekend classes available.
  • You can also study this course with the help of a Volunteer Tutor
  • This course is also available online through our Distance Learning Service.
