AMES recently produced a new research report entitled, Securing futures: making the most of migrants' skills, that reviews the effectiveness of the Skilled Professional Migrants Program (SPMP).

This research found that participating in employment orientation like the SPMP can be particularly effective in fast tracking people into work that uses their skills. Interviews with 239 program participants found that 89% had found work following the program and more than half were in a job that used their overseas qualifications and experience. The program is open to:

  • Permanent residents
  • Australian Citizens
  • Provisional residents

Course duration

  • 4 week intensive workshop
  • 4 days per week
