Enjoy an evening at Scienceworks Museum in Spotswood for AMES Australia staff, volunteers and their families to come together and celebrate the past year.
Gypsy band The Woohoo Revue is set to bring their talented sextet of horns, strings and drums. A festival favourite around the country, the group has performed at events such as WOMADelaide, Falls Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and Woodford Folk Festival.
Children are also encouraged to involve themselves in activities including a jumping castle, face painters, roving balloonists and caricaturists for all to enjoy.
Inside the museum there are interactive displays such as Sportsworks games, ThinkAhead exploring science and technological advances and Nitty Gritty Super City with construction zones.
Adults and children alike will enjoy exploring the Pumping Station exhibition - encounter an engine driver who'll take you through the history of machines powered by steam in the 19th century.
The 150 seater planetarium auditorium will screen a range of 30 minute shows, including Stories in the Stars with tales from the Boorong people; documentary Black Holes narrated by Geoffrey Rush, Starlight - a dramatic story voiced by Sigrid Thornton, and a presenter-guided tour of Ticket to the Universe.
A barbeque dinner will be provided with vegetarian and gluten free options available. Relax on the lawn with some seating available or bring a picnic rug to share with your family as partners and children are more than welcome.
Alcoholic drinks available for purchase. Please note the venue does not allow any external food and drinks to be brought onsite.
Be environmentally friendly and take the train to Spotswood for a short walk to Scienceworks or car pool with others to the event (parking free after 5pm, only 300 spots available).
