Bendigo is a vibrant contemporary regional centre about 150 kilometres north west of Melbourne. It is the fourth most populous city in Victoria and provides a variety of food and shopping experiences against a stunning heritage backdrop.
The Victorian gold rush during the 1850s brought an influx of migrants to the city from around the world and Bendigo is increasingly becoming more culturally diverse today. The percentage of Greater Bendigo residents born overseas has risen to 7 per cent, with 2 per cent of households speaking a language other than English at home.
Bendigo’s action packed events calendar boasts many long-standing cultural traditions, such as Chinese dragons, and regalia being a part of Australia’s longest continuous festival – the Bendigo Easter Festival.
