The area is constantly under development and is slowly becoming more urbanised and making its way further north.
Most of Craigieburn is 200 metres above sea level, with Mount Ridley being the northernmost hill in north-western metropolitan Melbourne and providing clear views of Melbourne's CBD.
A number of different sports are popular within Craigieburn, with residents being active in everything from AFL and rugby league to basketball and squash.
The area houses three major community based recreation facilities, one of the most popular being The Craigieburn Leisure Centre that has a range of facilities including an indoor pool and basketball courts.
