Glenroy is a suburb North of Melbourne and has both a major shopping district and a beautiful wetlands site.
The area is home to the Jacana Retarding Basin, a wetlands site shared with many birds and wildlife. With sports fields and playgrounds also being abundant throughout Glenroy it suits those that enjoy the outdoors while being conveniently located 13km from the CBD.
The major shopping district is centred around the Glenroy railway station, which is serviced by the Craigieburn railway line. A number of buses also service the area.
The Glenroy Neighbourhood Learning centre offers community-run education programs including health and fitness programs and arts and crafts. Community programs and multicultural activities are also run from the Glenroy library. Books, magazines, newspaper, DVDs and CDs in 15 community languages are available from the library, as well as free computer and Internet access.
