Flagstaff is located in the centre of Melbourne’s CBD, the business, administrative, retail, cultural and recreational capital of the State. Literally every convenience of modern living is at the AMES Flagstaff doorstep.
From the city you can catch a train, tram or bus to just about anywhere in Victoria.
Multicultural communities are supported in the city by the Multicultural Hub – a centre where people from Melbourne’s many different cultures can get together to work, share and learn in a safe and supportive environment. The Hub is owned by the City of Melbourne and run by AMES. It is Victoria’s largest local provider of multicultural support services.
The City Library also supports Multicultural communities through its community languages collection. The library also offers public programs to support lifelong learning, including programs for children and families; bookgroups; a home library service to housebound residents; reference and homework help services; and 24 hour access via a virtual library service.
To escape the hustle and bustle of the city, there are a number of beautiful parks in and around the Melbourne CBD. Just up the street from AMES Flagstaff is the Flagstaff gardens, where city workers come to relax. There is also a playground and barbeques, as well as tennis courts and a bowling green.
Melbourne City became the top fastest growing region in Australia, when the number of residents living within the CBD jumped an unprecedented 5400 in the year to June 2013, a growth rate of 23 per cent.
