Ever wanted to know what it would be like to meet a Triple Olympic Medalist? We are proud to present the ‘Living like a Life Athlete’ presentation by Matt Welsh, Triple Olympic Medalist, former World Champion & World Record Holder, Member of the Australian Swim Team for 11 years, Winner of 56 individual Australian National Championships. This session is highly interactive and not only touches on Matt’s Olympic and sporting career but also focuses on life after sport and how simple lifestyle changes have led him to living with vitality and not simply in the present.

This presentation will examine opportunities for advocacy and reputation enhancement for AMES as well as the common pitfalls and risks that come with dealing with media. There are some practical strategies on how to handle difficult situations explained through interactive workshops and mock interviews.

Connecting
Refugees 

to Employment

This workshop will provide some personal perspectives of refugee clients who have had different experiences in working towards their employment goals in Australia. It will focus on some of the critical stages and opportunities for engagement with these clients to assist them in their employment pathways. This session is designed for staff who would like to explore how we can work together across our Divisions to provide services and best support your clients into sustainable employment.

research@ames - What and Why Presenter:

Research & Policy Team
and project partners

There will be five concurrent poster sessions on current research projects led by the Research & Policy staff and staff from AMES Divisions who are involved in each project.   You can find out about employment outcomes in skilled migrants programs, economic impacts of the Karen settlement in Nhill, a survey done with students on their perceptions of Australia  and more. You will  rotate  through several of these groups during the session and can talk about the projects in small groups. We will conclude the session with an overview of  how AMES research supports our services and prepares us for influencing policy and winning tenders.
