AMES Australia has been providing support to people who are living in Australia while they seek to resolve their immigration status since 2011.
Services were initially delivered through the Community Detention program for vulnerable families and adults seeking asylum.
Mid 2012 saw the Australian Government introduce the Community Assistance Support and Asylum Seeker Assistance Scheme programs to address the needs of asylum seekers arriving onshore and released in to the community. AMES Australia began delivering the Community Assistance Support program and the Asylum Seeker Assistance Scheme program in August 2012.
Commencing January 2015 the Status Resolution Support Programme replaced these programs with one single integrated program to provide better flexibility and continuity in delivering services to support people seeking to resolve their immigration status.
