Supporting Refugees from the Syrian Conflict

The recent announcement by the Australian Government of an additional 12,000 refugee places for those directly affected by the situation in Syria has led to many people asking how they can help.

There are several ways you can help:

  • By providing practical assistance through volunteering
  • Providing donations of household items
  • By donating funds that will be used to meet the specific and immediate needs of new arrivals.

You may also want to offer lodgings or a job to a refugee fleeing the terrible situation in and around Syria.

AMES Australia will be working with these refugees who arrive in Victoria and we welcome any help you might be willing to offer.

If you would like to volunteer with AMES Australia, you can simply click here to go to our volunteer page for more information.

If you would like to offer some household items, please click here and you will be able to send us an email with you information. If we cannot help you straight away, we will either be able to direct you to one of several community groups and other services that can collect or distribute your items.

If you would simply like to donate, click here and you can leave any amount you wish. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible and will be used to directly assist newly arrived refugees impacted by the crisis in the Syrian region. Please note that all donated funds are passed on in full and no funds from your donation are used to administer this service.

If you would like someone to call you to discuss how you can help, simply click here to send us an email with your name and contact details and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
