English for Living in Australia

The AMEP will teach you more than just English. You will learn about Australian society, culture and customs. You will meet other new arrivals who may have similar experiences and goals to you.

When you first join the AMEP you will have your English level assessed to determine the right course for you. AMES Australia English for Living in Australia courses are offered from beginner to advanced levels at all AMES Australia locations and are based on the Certificate in Spoken and Written English (CSWE). See the full list of English for Living in Australia courses and AMES Australia locations.

Special Skills Courses

AMES Australia Special Skills courses are short courses developed as part of the AMEP to help you gain specific English language goals. For example, you may wish to improve your pronunciation and grammar, or you may wish to improve your computer skills or your job search skills. These courses are suited to students who are waiting to start a general English course or who want to undertake a short course. These courses will use some of your AMEP hours.

Learn Local Courses

These courses provide students with a range of skills for living in Australia including English language courses focusing on speaking, pronunciation and listening. There are also courses that teach students about the internet, how to use email and Facebook as well as kitchen based courses that develop knowledge about food handling.
These courses provide an informal option for those not yet ready to undertake accredited courses.

Learn Local courses are funded by the Victorian Government Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
