Who is AMES Australia?

AMES Australia is a government agency who has been helping refugees and migrants to settle into Australia for more than 70 years.  We achieve this not only work with you our clients but also with the community, business and Government to develop sustainable and effective settlement solutions for the whole Victorian community.

 About the Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP)

The HSP provides early practical support to people from refugee and humanitarian backgrounds on arrival, and throughout the initial settlement period. The HSP assists clients to build the skills and knowledge they need to be self-reliant and active members of Australian society.

 What you can expect next now

On arrival, you will be transported to your temporary housing where you will be greeted by AMES staff. You will be provided with some basic food items, other essential items and a mobile phone.

 What you can expect in week 1

Your AMES Australia case manager will contact you to commence with assisting you with your needs. This may include essential registrations with government agencies, setting up bank accounts and health checks as required.
You can also expect to receive SMS text messages from time-to-time containing important information and website links to more details about AMES Australia and settling in Australia.
