Located 14km east from Melbourne CBD, Box Hill is known for its diversity and is one of the city's most prominent multicultural hubs. The area is particularly famous for its Chinese community, with an abundance of authentic international cuisines, supermarkets, and cultural festivals that shape the suburb’s identity.
The area has an extensive public transport network including buses, trains and trams. Additionally, Box Hill has a bustling shopping precinct that range from shops along Station Street and Whitehorse Road, to the suburb large shopping centre; Centro Box Hill - where you can find food courts, specialty fashion retail stores, indoor market and major chain stores.
There are a number of playgrounds in Box Hill including Elgar Park, which boasts a large playground next to a miniature railway parks, with access to public toilets and seating. Box Hill also caters to children with disabilities with Surrey Dive Park Playground.
Box Hill Community Arts Centre is an artistic hub that provides workshops, events, learning resources and room hire.
