Career Development Skills for CALD Learners Kit is a free kit to support the delivery of an   integrated career development program to adult EAL students at a   pre-intermediate level of English in conjunction with their English language   program. The purpose of the program as described in this kit is to build the   skills, knowledge and capabilities of students so they can manage their   pathways and careers through their employment journey.

The kit has been developed to assist EAL students to

  • develop language skills, knowledge and capabilities for career development pathway   planning
  • explore future directions through a range of targeted activities
  • develop short and long term pathways plans to work or further study
  • identify obstacles to achieving these plans.

It can be used with students in adult ESL/Access Education/VET and foundation skills.

The Career Development Skills for CALD Learners Kit comprises

  • User guide, incorporating a matrix of suggested classroom activities mapped against the ACSF and the CSWE II; student worksheets; teacher resources and links to reference sources.
  • Classroom presentations in a PowerPoint file

The resource does not represent a course book or a unit of work. Classroom ideas and activities are  presented in a structured order to help scaffold the learning, but they are   not a sequence. Teachers and facilitators choose from the suggested activities to suit their class.

Suitable for adult ESL/Access Education/VET and foundation skills

Writers: Lilliana  Hajncl and Diana Noor, with AMES Australia Education practitioners.
