Located 25 km north of Melbourne’s CBD, Craigieburn is one of the fastest‑growing suburbs in the city. The area is known for its family‑friendly environment, with new housing estates, schools, and recreational facilities supporting its expanding population. The suburb has a diverse community, with many migrants settling in the area. 

Craigieburn Central shopping centre, local parks, and sporting facilities provide amenities for residents. The suburb is connected by the Craigieburn train line and major roads, making commuting to the CBD straightforward. A number of different sports are popular within Craigieburn, with residents being active in everything from AFL and rugby league to basketball and squash. The area houses three major community-based recreation facilities, one of the most popular being The Craigieburn Leisure Centre, which has a range of facilities including an indoor pool and basketball courts.

The Craigieburn Football Club plays in the Essendon District Football League and is based at D.S. Aitken Reserve, which also has six tennis courts and a dance hall.
